Take a moment to read through the charitable causes Studio136 supports. Some even have a personal connection and meaning for our staff and community members in the Capital Region. Whether we donated our time, money or talent, Studio136 is honored to have the opportunity to make an impact on so many lives.
Following are just a few of the organizations and causes we've supported over the years:
Albany County Adopt-a-Family Program. Through a program sponsored by the Albany County Department of Children, Youth and Families, the staff of Studio136 provides wrapped toys, clothing, and other gifts to underprivileged children who otherwise wouldn't experience the joy of Christmas morning. As part of a company-wide project, employees bring in gifts from the children's wish lists, and hold an annual gift-wrapping party at the office.
St. Anne's Institute. Also in the spirit of giving, Studio136 provides gift bags to the girls of St. Anne's Institute in Albany, a not-for-profit, secular residential- and community-based preventive service agency committed to providing care and rehabilitation services. This year, Studio136 prepared gift bags to brighten the spirits of 25 girls who spent the holidays in the dormitories. These gifts brighten the girls' spirits each year, as many have never celebrated a holiday due to their circumstances.
Saint Francis Xavier Haitian Orphanage. More than a year-and-a-half after a massive earthquake devastated the tiny island country of Haiti, tens of thousands of children remain homeless and desperately in need of shelter, food and medical care. Although progress in rebuilding Haiti has been slow, there are dedicated individuals and organizations that have been stepping forward to provide relief and the promise of a better life for Haitian children and future generations. Studio136 has been supporting the efforts of St. Pius Church in Loudonville, N.Y., and the Haitian Orphanage Foundation to raise funds for an orphanage started by a former parishioner and Siena College graduate. Esperandieu Cenat recently returned to his native country of Haiti to realize his dream of opening an orphanage for the country's many homeless, needy and abandoned children. Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Having been touched personally by the disease, Studio136 staff passionately support research to eradicate Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). SMA is a genetic neuromuscular disease characterized by muscle atrophy and weakness. The disease generally manifests early in life and is the leading genetic cause of death in infants and toddlers. SMA has generally been believed to affect as many as 10,000 to 25,000 children and adults in the United States, and therefore it is one of the most common rare diseases. Among the organizations dedicated to finding a cure and providing support to families affected by the disease are: Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center, Families of SMA and the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation.
Susan Odell Taylor School. Studio136 staff members are strong supporters of education. The Susan Odell Taylor School for Children is a private school offering classes for preschool through sixth grade. Throughout the years, Studio136 has worked with the Taylor School, helping them realize their goals in the area of communications and community outreach. Studio136 collaborated with school leaders on their website, program marketing, fundraising events and more. Please visit their website to learn more about the Taylor School, and consider contributing to a school in your local area.
